Safety and Authorisations
This 2 day course provides delegates with a appreciation of the role of an Authorised Person. Delivery is through classroom based theory.
This 1 day course provides delegates with an understanding of the requirements around fluorinated gas regulations and the impact of their activities and need for compliance. Delivery is through classroom based theory.
This 1 day course is designed to provide delegates with the basic knowledge to be safe in a substation under National Grid UK Electricity Transmission 3rd Edition Safety Rules. Delivery is through classroom based theory and a visit to a training substation.
This course provides awareness of Impressed Voltage (IV) and is delivered on our e-learning platform which uses animations and interactive exercises to aid learning.
Transmission System Training
This 2 day course provides delegates with a basic understanding of cables and cable systems. Delivery is through classroom based theory.
This 1 day course provides delegates with a basic overview of high voltage electrical transmission concepts; how electricity is made, what a substation is for and how it is operated. This course does not require any prior engineering knowledge. Delivery is through classroom based theory.
This 2 day course provides delegates with a basic knowledge and understanding of National Grid’s transmission system. Delivery is through classroom based theory.
This 5 day course provides delegates with an appreciation of switchgear, transformers, overhead lines (OHL) and protection. Delivery is through classroom based theory.
This course provides a combination of practical activities and classroom based theory sessions aiming to provide delegates with background knowledge of substation layouts, isolator and earth switches and other equipment.
A practical and theory based training course that will provide delegates with foundation knowledge on all types of Substation HV Switchgear Air Blast Circuit Breakers (ABCB).
This course is aimed at providing substation Advanced Modern Apprentices with foundation knowledge on Substation HV Switchgear of the SF6 variety. The course is split into theory and practical elements and covers principles of switchgear, advantages and disadvantages, maintenance and testing, faults, and safe working practices and procedures.
A practical and theory based training course that will provide delegates with foundation knowledge on all types of substation oil circuit breakers.
Introduces delegates to reasons why we earth and give them a basic understanding of NSI 4. Delegates will practice point of work earthing and application of single and double dress earthing.
This course provides delegates with an appreciation of Tap and associated maintenance activities. Delivery is through a combination of classroom based theory and practical demonstrations using a MR type M tap changer.
This overview course provides a balance of theory and practical tasks, which reflect the maintenance, testing and best practices carried out on site on transformers.
Overhead Lines and Cables
This course provides an appreciation of overhead line climbing and tower rescue techniques and is delivered through a combination of classroom and practical sessions.
To provide a practical experience and appreciation of jointing conductors. To also teach hand skills in a relevant environment. The course is delivered through a combination of practical work and classroom based theory.
To provide delegates with an appreciation of the basic skills required when replacing maintenance brackets, tower steelwork, tower furniture and barb wire repairs.
